I heard on ABC (Australia) radio some years ago of a Concert, in Melbourne I believe, but certainly in Australia, during the Russian State Orchestra’s tour of Australia, conducted by Yvevgeny Svetlanov, of Gayaneh, Lezghinka, where Maestro Svetlanov handed the Orchestra over to be led by the Snare Drum. I have never forgotten this piece as the most stirring and beautiful I have ever heard. I seem to be on an unsuccessful journey to hear this piece again. I have purchased CD’s since of other Orchestral Pieces of this work and I find they do not compare. Is there, I hope, a recording of this piece I may purchase, to hear again. Thank you. Anne,
