DVD recordings for the Competition applications

Dear candidates, in order to send a complete application to take part in the 4th Evgeny Svetlanov International Conducting Competition, please send us at least 1 DVD recording with 30 min. of music (1 or 2 works) and no more then two DVD recordings with 2 hours of music in total (3-4 works).

Lio Kuokman at the Trans-Siberian Art Festival

2 © DRThe Second Prize of the 2014 Svetlanov Competition, Lio Kuokman, will deliver a series of concerts at the Trans-Siberian Art Festival on March 14, 19 and 22, 2018. He will perform together with the Moscow Philhamonic Orchestra and Vadim Repin, as well as with the Novossibirsk Philharmonic Orchestra, Pablo Ferrandez, Gidon Kremer and Giedré Dirvanauskaité.

After going all out at the 41th Thursford Christmas Spectacular, Benjamin Ellin will celebrate his 2018 new year eve in China where he will be on tour with the Slaithwaite Philharmonic from December 28th to January 5th, 2018. The lucky Chinese audience will enjoy these magnificent programmes, including Benjamin Ellin’s own work River Cities:

4th Evgeny Svetlanov International Conducting Competition

The next Evgeny Svetlanov International Conducting Competition will be held from 4 to 8 September 2018 in Paris at the Radio France Auditorium with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France. The Competition is delighted to renew the partnership with Radio France which was established at the third Competition in 2014.

Evgeny Svetlanov was a major figure of the 20th century and heir to the great tradition of Russian conductors. His legacy is reflected in the contemporary musical world.

The Evgeny Svetlanov International Conducting Competition was established in 2007 in memory of Evgeny Svetlanov and is held every four years. Its goal is to discover young conductors and to support them in the early stages of their career. The 13 prize-winners of this Competition are now recognised on the international musical scene (Lio Kuokman, Samuel Burstin, Mihhail Gerts, Kalle Kuusava, Andris Poga, Christoph Altstaedt, Daniel Cohen, Robert Trevino, Domingo Hindoyan, Benjamin Ellin, Roberto Fores Veses, Debora Waldman, Rossen Gergov).

2018 will be marked by the celebration of the Maestro’s 90th birthday, thus lending a special dimension to the 4th  Competition. The memory of Evgeny Svetlanov will be more present than ever.

Do you know that Benjamin Ellin is an Artistic and Musical Director of the 41th Thursford Christmas Spectacular 2017, the largest Christmas show in the UK?
Set in the magical surroundings of mechanical organs and fairground carousels, with a cast of 130 professional singers, dancers and musicians. The 3 hour performance delivers an extravaganza of non-stop singing, dancing, music, humour and variety. It’s a fast moving celebration of the festive season featuring an eclectic mix of both seasonal and year-round favourites, with famous and much-loved chart toppers being sung alongside traditional carols.

All the performances from November 6th to December 23th are sold out!

Andris Poga 4The 11th of November was “Mozart” day for the Shanghai Concert Hall audience. Andris Poga and the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra performed there Ave Verum Corpus, Exultante, Jubilate and Mozart Requiem.

Roberto Fores Veses at the Cathedral Saint-Louis

Showing once again an impeccable quality, the Orchestre d’Auvergne conducted by Roberto Fores Veses performed in a full house at Saint-Louis Cathedral at the Invalides on 12th October. The music ensemble interpreted, among other works, a famous Tchaikovsky’s String Serenade. The piece which was recently recorded under the baton of their Music Director Roberto Fores Veses (on the Aparte Music label) was highly acclaimed by the critics,  as one can read below (in French):

Robert Trevino: new Music Director of the Euskadi National Orchestra

A few months ago, Robert Trevino was named Music Director of the Euskadi National Orchestra in the Basque region of Spain. Early October, he inaugurated his first season with a meticulously designed program.
Entitled “Concentrate of Hope”, the season opening performances including Brahms Song of Destiny, Bernstein Chichester Psalms and mainly Mahler Symphony n°1 (famous for its complexity) rightly correspond to the title. This program, conducted by Robert Trevino  with an exalted energy, showed that the orchestra is heading to an ambitious future.
