Dear conductors, the application period for the 6th Evgeny Svetlanov International Conducting Competition is open from 1st March to 15th April.
The Competition will take place from 3–6 September 2026 in Birmingham, in partnership with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO). For the first time, the Svetlanov Competition will take place on the British soil.
A distinguished jury, chaired by Bertrand de Billy, will bring together conductors, renowned musicians and singers, and leading personalities from the Classical Music world.
Eighteen selected candidates will demonstrate their artistry with one of Europe’s finest orchestras, whose Music Director is Kazuki Yamada.
The Competition unfolds over three rounds. Challenging programmes featuring the great symphonic repertoire will include works by Beethoven, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Wagner, Dvořák, Mendelssohn, Schumann, Sibelius, Franck, Elgar, Svetlanov and a commissionned work from Antonino Abate.
The Competition will be broadcast line and in reply on medici.tv
Winners of the Competition, apart from the financial rewards, will have an opportunity to be invited by our renowned musical partners.
