In 2025, The Svetlanov Legacy Charity supported the new play That Bastard, Puccini! by British playwright James Inverne. The work premiered at the Park Theatre, London, from 10 July to 9 August 2025.
Set in 1893, the play explores the rivalry between Giacomo Puccini and Ruggero Leoncavallo, who both laid claim to the subject of La Bohème. Written in a witty, fast-paced style, the play breaks the fourth wall and mixes comedy with historical drama.
“Inverne tells us this tale in a fast-paced, unique way… such a retelling serves to amplify the comedy of the script, bringing the audience into the story with a subtle wink and a nod.” — All That Dazzles
