French-Swiss conductor Bertrand de Billy is renowned for his wide-ranging operatic and symphonic repertoire and his collaborations with leading international institutions.

A regular guest at the Vienna State Opera, he conducts productions including Les Dialogues des Carmélites, Tosca, Guillaume Tell, Don Giovanni, and Faust.

He also appears frequently at the Staatsoper unter den Linden, Opéra national de Paris, and the Salzburg Festival, as well as with major orchestras such as the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo, the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, and the Staatskapelle Weimar.

Bertrand de Billy has collaborated with many of the world’s foremost orchestras, including the Cleveland Orchestra, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Dresden Staatskapelle, the Orchestre de Paris, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the Hamburg Philharmonic, the Orchestre National de France, and Japan’s leading ensembles such as the NHK Symphony Orchestra and Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra.

He has held several major positions throughout his career:

  • Principal Conductor of the Gran Teatro del Liceu in Barcelona (1999–2004),
  • Principal Conductor of the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra (2002–2010),
  • Principal Guest Conductor of the Frankfurt Opera and the Frankfurt Museum Orchestra (2013–2015),
  • Principal Guest Conductor of both the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne (2013–2016) and the Dresden Philharmonic (2014–2018).

 

His extensive discography includes acclaimed CD and DVD recordings, and he has received several high distinctions in France and Austria.
