CEO & Artistic Director of Wiener Konzerthaus, President of wien Modern
Since 2013, Matthias Naske has served as CEO and Artistic Director of the Wiener Konzerthaus Society and as President of the festival “Wien Modern”. Under his leadership, the Wiener Konzerthaus — one of Europe’s most vibrant concert halls — has continued its tradition as a private, non-profit association. The venue achieves an exceptional level of self-financing and presents approximately 900 events each season.
From 2003 to 2013, Naske was the founding Director General of Philharmonie Luxembourg and, from 2012 onwards, also assumed management responsibility for the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg. He was likewise the founding President of Fondation EME, an organisation dedicated to promoting cultural and social participation through music.
Between 1996 and 2003, Naske served as Secretary General of Jeunesse Austria, coordinating its nationwide concert network and developing programmes for young audiences.
Earlier in his career, he was Head of Artistic Management of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra under Claudio Abbado, and Secretary General of the Camerata Academica Salzburg under Sándor Végh, leading the ensemble to regular appearances at the Salzburg Festival.
