Alison holds a Professional Studies Diploma from the Manhattan School of Music, a Master of Music from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Valparaiso University. Their conducting mentors include George Manahan, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Jim Ross, Tito Muñoz, Cristian Măcelaru and Oriol Sans.

In 2024, Alison won the Canton Symphony’s Conducting Fellowship, later renewed and expanded for the 2025/26 season. In this role, they led fifteen performances with the orchestra and assisted guest conductors including JoAnn Falletta, Tito Muñoz, Jeri Lynne Johnson and Francesco Lecce-Chong.

In 2025, they were selected as a finalist in the Donatella Flick Conducting Competition with the London Symphony Orchestra. The year prior, they conducted the Orchestre Métropolitain on Anna Clyne’s This Midnight Hour as a finalist at Domaine Forget de Charlevoix under the guidance of Yannick Nézet-Séguin.

Alison has been invited to conduct the China International Philharmonic Orchestra, the NYC Orchestra Project, and Renegade Opera. They were selected for the 2025 Tanglewood Conducting Seminar, where they worked with Jim Ross, Tanglewood Fellows, and members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra—culminating in the premiere of a chamber opera by Maya Miro Johnson. That same year, Alison served as Conducting Associate at the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music, working with Cristian Măcelaru and Octavio Más-Arocas.

In 2024, Alison organised a multidisciplinary benefit concert entitled Divinity and the Cosmos: A Genderqueer Exploration of Messiaen’s Turangalîla-Symphonie.
