After studying piano and horn, Deguchi turned seriously to conducting. He studied Law at Kwansei Gakuin University before graduating in Composition and Conducting from Tokyo College of Music, and in 2023 completed a Master’s degree in Orchestral Conducting at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin.

His teachers have included Junichi Hirokami, Tatsuya Shimono, Masanori Mikawa, Toshifumi Tashiro and Christian Ehwald, while he studied opera conducting with Hans-Dieter Baum. He has taken masterclasses with Neeme and Paavo Järvi, Kristjan Järvi, Donald Runnicles, Ulrich Windfuhr, Johannes Schlaefli, Michiyoshi Inoue and Ryusuke Numajiri.

In 2021, he won the 17th Khachaturian International Conducting Competition in Armenia and received both Second Prize and the Orchestra Special Award at the Kussewitzky International Conducting Competition in Italy. The same year, he assisted Vladimir Jurowski in a project with the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin.

In 2024/25, he served as Assistant Conductor of the Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège and received the Akeo Watanabe Music Foundation Award in Japan.

He has appeared with leading orchestras in Japan and Europe, including the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, Yomiuri Nippon Symphony, Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony, Tokyo Symphony, Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, Konzerthausorchester Berlin, George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra and Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra.

His operatic repertoire includes Mozart’s Don Giovanni and Le nozze di Figaro, Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, Bellini’s I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Puccini’s La bohème and Madama Butterfly, Strauss’s Die Fledermaus and Kálmán’s Gräfin Mariza.
