Latvian conductor Aivis Greeters graduated from the Orchestra Conducting Department of the Latvian Academy of Music in 2021, where he studied with Mārtiņš Ozoliņš. From 2013 to 2017, he studied Choral Conducting at the Latvian Academy of Music and during 2015-2016, he developed his skills at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm.
He participated in numerous masterclasses, including the “Bach Cantatas” with Jorg-Peter Weigle, the “English Renaissance” with Steven Layton, the “Mozart Opera Arias” with Zbigniew Graca, the Orchestral Conducting with Lutz Kohler, Ekhart Wycik, Alexander Polianichko and participated in the Järvi Academy 2019 and 2021.
Aivis won Second Prize at the 2021 German Conductors Award and conducted the WDR Sinfonieorchester and the Gürzenich-Orchester Köln. In 2022, he attended the Tonhalle Orchestra Zürich Leading Academy Masterclass and received the Paavo Järvi Special Jury Prize.
During the 2020-2021 season, he debuted with three major Latvian orchestras: Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonietta Riga and Liepāja Symphony Orchestra. In 2022, he debuted at the Latvian National Opera and Ballet.
In 2021, Aivis received The Grand Music Award in category “Young artist of the year 2020” and in the category for “Artistically brave and innovative work during COVID-19” for a project with the Youth Choir “Kamēr…” at the Cēsis Art Festival in Latvia.
He has been Artistic Director and Conductor of the Youth Choir “Kamēr…” since 2018, prior to which he was Singer and Second Conduc- tor of the choir. Under his leadership, the Youth Choir “Kamēr…” won the Grand Prix at the 50th Tolosa Choral Contest 2018 in Spain. In 2019, “Kamēr…” won the European Grand Prix of the Arezzo Competition and became the first choir to have won three European Grand Prix titles in the world.
