Bruno Campo

Bruno Campo studied at the Graz University of Music and Performing Arts, Austria. He took masterclasses of orchestra conducting with Daniele Gatti in the Accademia La Chigiana in Siena, David Zinman with the Tonhalle-Orchestra Zurich and Peter Eötvös in Budapest on Karlheinz Stockhausen’s Punkte and Arnold Schönberg’s Kammersymphonie Op 9.
In 2005, at the age of 22, Bruno was entrusted by the founder of El Sistema Venezuela, Maestro José Antonio Abreu, with the task of building up El Sistema Guatemala. In 2013 he co-founded the Sistema Europe Youth Orchestra.
He also conducted the Orkester Norden on a Scandinavian tour, the Orkester Midtvest in the Danish festival “Klassiske Dage” in Holstebro, the Sistema Europe Youth Orchestra and the Youth Orchestra of Caracas in Teatro alla Scala di Milano, members of the Vienna Philharmonic in the Opera camp programmes of the Wiener Philharmonic Musikvermittlung and the Salzburg Festival.
Recent highlights include conducting the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra in the opening ceremony of the Aarhus European Capital of Culture 2017, the season opening of the Odense Symphony Orchestra, and a successful residency of the Sistema Europe Youth Orchestra 2017 in Athens.
Forthcoming engagements include re-invitations to the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra in 2019 as well as different youth orchestra programmes.
Bruno was decorated with the Rafael Alvarez Ovalle and Peace Ambassador medals by the Guatemalan government for his contribution to the arts and culture.
