Roberto Fores Veses at the French Summer Festivals

Roberto Fores Veses and his Orchestre d’Auvergne toured the most important French summer festivals.
First, they took the road to the La Chaise-Dieu Festival with a Mendelssohn programme (4th Symphony and Violin Concerto), then on to the Pianos Folies Festival  in Le Touquet-Paris-Plage with Dvorak Cypresses, Shostakovich 1st Concerto, Tchaikovsky Serenade for Strings. Their final stop was at the Berlioz Festival with Holst St Paul’s Suite, Williams Fantasia on the theme by Thomas Tallis and Beethoven / Mahler String Quartet n°11 “Serioso”.

Andris Poga at the Radio France Montpellier Festival

Andris Poga 4In July Andris Poga took part in the Radio France Montpellier Occitanie Festival where he presented a programme tribute to the “The year 1917” with the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse (France).
He brought us to the heart of that terrible year in Russia with Shostakovich 12th Symphony titled “1917”, every movement of which describes the events leading up to the October Revolution. The programme was topped off with a masterpeice of the Romantic repertoire: Dvorak Cello Concerto with Edgar Moreau.

Debora Waldman at the head of the projects for the youth

In June, Debora Waldman dedicated herself to projects for youth. First on June 26th, she conducted the DEMOS Orchestra at the Paris Philharmonic. This is a project to initiate 7 to 14 years old children in classic music, without the need for any prior special musical education. You can see some excerpts here

Then on June 29th, she was the Artistic Director of a world première of a new interpretation of Cinderella at the Limoges Opera (France). The music for the new production, called De Cendre et d’Or is written by the French composer Sally Galet on the libretto (collected from the children) by Thomas Gornet. The children also participated in the production as singers and actors. You can see an excerpt here.

A succession of debuts for Daniel Cohen

Last spring was laden with debuts for Daniel Cohen.
After “The Magic Flute” at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and Brahms, Gubaidulina, Jinsella with the RTE National Symphony Orchestra in Dublin, May and June were marked by concerts with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra (Beethoven programme) and the Transylvania Philharmonic National Orchestra in Romania (Ravel, Barber and Stravinsky programme).

Mihhail Gerts conducts « The Flying Dutchman »

In May, Mihhail Gerts conducted a spectacular new opera production of The Flying Dutchman by Richard Wagner at the Hagen Theatre.
The German reviews called his conducting « refined and pictoral » and the audience applauded the première with a standing ovation.

Roberto Fores Veses’ triumphal debut with the NHK Symphony Orchestra

Roberto Fores Veses had a real triumph with the NHK Symphony Orchestra this spring in Tokyo, thanks in particular to the interpretation of Tchaikovsky’s 5th Symphony.

Then in the end of May he joined his Orchestre d ‘Auvergne to deliver an exceptional concert at the Invalides Museum in Paris. The evening at this prestigious monument was a tribute to Beethoven. The concert is avalable on replay here.

And there is more good news : a new recording of Roberto Fores Veses and the Orchestre d’Auvergne came out last June at the Aparté Record Label. It features Beethoven Quartets op. 95 & 131. You can download it here.

Robert Trevino: Around the World in Eighty Days

Everything started at the end of March with Robert Trevino’s debut with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra in Canada. Since then, the young conductor with the concerts in San Paolo (Brazil), Hannover (Germany), Cincinnati (USA), Melbourne and Brisbane (Australia), Taipei (Taiwan), Tokyo and Hiroshima (Japan), San Sébastián and Madrid (Spain).
